Southern Athletics league

The Southern Athletics League (SAL) is a regional track and field competition for senior athletes (U17 & above), providing a great opportunity to compete as part of a team against other clubs across the South of England. The league offers a full range of track, field, and relay events, making it an excellent platform for athletes of all abilities to gain valuable competition experience.
City of Portsmouth AC competes in the SAL, with both male and female athletes contributing points towards the club’s overall standing in each fixture. The league follows a team-based format, where every performance counts!

Who can take part?
The SAL is open to club members aged U17 and above, including Masters athletes. Each event has A & B string places, allowing athletes of different levels to compete. Non-scoring places are often available, giving more athletes the chance to take part.

How to get involved
If you're interested in competing in SAL, speak to your coach or our team managers to find out more. Fixtures take place throughout the summer season, with events held at venues across the region. We encourage all eligible athletes to get involved, represent the club, and enjoy the experience of team competition!
